A major controversy erupted in Delhi after police lathi-charged students protesting at Ramlila Ground against alleged irregularities in the SSC exams. Videos of the late-night crackdown quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders. Arvind Kejriwal, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Manish Sisodia, and Atishi strongly condemned the action, accusing the BJP government of running a dictatorship. The AAP leadership also assured full support to the agitating SSC students in their demand for justice.

Democracy Replaced with BJP’s Tyranny: Kejriwal

Kejriwal wrote on X that the brutality of BJP has crossed all limits. “These SSC students were fighting for justice for months. Instead of hearing their voices, they were thrashed with lathis in the dark of night. Imagine… the hands that should have held books are now covered in injury marks. Even media persons were prevented from covering the incident. In this country, open hooliganism is going on. Those who question BJP are lathi-charged, jailed, and silenced. Whenever they want, laws are changed. If someone doesn’t vote for BJP, their vote is canceled. BJP has not only mocked democracy but the entire system.”

Peaceful Students, Teachers Attacked in Darkness: Bharadwaj

Addressing a press conference at AAP headquarters, Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “For weeks SSC students were peacefully protesting with their teachers. Among them were young girls, boys, and educators. But Delhi Police, under the Central government, carried out a shameful and undemocratic act. First, they cut the lights of the tents, created darkness so that videos could not be made, and then policemen in plain clothes brutally attacked students. The children lit up their phones and recorded, and those videos are now viral. Bharadwaj further said that parents spend years and all their savings on children’s education, hoping they will secure government jobs. But corruption in NEET and SSC exams has ruined their future. “Youngsters who worked hard for years are left jobless, while those who paid money are becoming officers. Instead of listening to students, the government is beating them with lathis. This is shameful.”

He added, “No section of society has been spared from Delhi Police’s lathis — traders, doctors, students, ex-servicemen, lawyers, even BJP supporters. Everyone has been beaten at some point. This is dictatorship.”

Modi Govt No. 1 in Lathis, Last in Jobs: Sisodia and Atishi

Senior leader Manish Sisodia said on X, “At Ramlila Ground, BJP’s ‘lathi-leela’ was on full display. SSC students and teachers were beaten mercilessly and dragged on the ground. Modi government is last in giving jobs, but number one in distributing lathis to youth. Leader of Opposition Atishi also wrote, “At Delhi’s Ramlila Ground, SSC students and teachers were beaten with sticks by Delhi Police under BJP’s orders. Youngsters asking questions were not heard, they were dragged and thrashed. This brutality proves that in place of democracy, BJP’s system of suppression is running in the country. Voices of those who question are crushed, and dictatorship is openly prevailing in India.
